MOBY, the first confirmed headliner at Spirit of Burgas 2011!

We shall witness his live show on the main festival stage on August the 13th!

MOBY and his band will play on the Main Stage at Spirit of Burgas festival on August the 13th, 2011! The festival organisers can finally confirm the hopes and expectations of thousands of fans: this year MOBY shall be among the headliners of the largest summer musical festival in Bulgaria!

The American dance guru will visit Bulgaria for the first time as a part of his much-anticipated tour, presenting his new album Destroyed. MOBY will perform a concert show at the Spirit of Burgas 2011 festival which will once again be held on Burgas Central beach between 12th and 14th of August (Friday, Saturday and Sunday).

Moby has been making music since he was 9 years old. He started out playing classical guitar and then went on to play with seminal connecticut hardcore punk group 'the vatican commandoes' when he was 13. He started dj'ing after leaving college, and was a fixture in the late 80's new york house and hip-hop scenes.

He released his first single, 'Go' in 1991(listed as one of rolling stones best records of all time), and has been making albums ever since. His own records have sold over 20,000,000 copies worldwide, and he's also produced and remixed scores of other artists, including David Bowie, Metallica, The Beastie Boys, Public Enemy, among others.

He has toured tirelessly, playing well over 3,000 concerts in his career(Moby’s songs from Destroyed were written late at night in hotel rooms around the world), and has also had his music used in hundreds of different films, including 'Heat', 'Any Given Sunday', 'Tomorrow Never Dies', and 'The Beach', among others.
Moby works closely with a variety of different charities, including the Humane Society and The Institute for Music and Neurologic Function, and in 2007 he launched 'mobygratis', which provides free music for independent film makers.

Destroyed is the name of Moby's latest project which is a music album and a book of photography and is scheduled for  release in Мay 2011 through his own record label, “little idiot”. The album and photo book combination provides an intimate look at Moby’s world and his creative process as an artist, both the music and photos were created in the same period and draw inspiration from the strange and sublime world of touring.

Before the official release though there is a present to the fans in the form of 3 tracks EP called “Be The One”. The tracks can be downloaded free from moby.com.  In addition, a trilogy of short films directed by Moby for each of the tracks will be released online.

Songs from the new album will be performed live on 13th of August at SPIRIT of Burgas' Main Stage!

And here is an interesting fact … During his last year tour, MOBY worked with a Bulgarian bass player called Svetlana Vasileva. She toured with him on three continents and we hope to meet her as part of his band at Spirit of Burgas 2011.

MOBY’s show, which besides himself features his band plus the wonderful vocalist Joy Malcolm, will be performed on the festival’s main stage.

As well as the Main Stage, the festival will once again offer numerous stages, many DJ’s areas and bars, not to mention sunshine, sea, sand and many smiling and dancing people.

We soon will announce the remaining headliners of the festival, some of them rock, hip-hop and dance stars! You can also expect to hear more information about the artists to play on the rock, jazz, electronic music, reggae and other genres’ stages in the next few weeks.
